what to wear

outfit questions are the main.

these are your senior pictures and you’ve invested a lot to be doing these! I know you want to look and feel your best.

1) think timeless.
you don’t want to look at these in 5, 10, 20 years and cringe about your outfit choices. this includes trends (holes, jewelry ect), colors and patterns.

I suggest keeping colors and patterns simple.
blacks, browns, deep reds, dark blues- neutrals are always good.
keep patterns to a minimum - you don’t want them to be too distracting or busy.
limit the holes in your jeans to just one outfit.
less is more when it comes to jewelry (y’all I graduated in 2013 in the south - just when rustic cuff and lily and laura were all the rage. I think I would wear about 18 bracelets at once LOL - don’t be like me.)

I suggest browsing my galleries and seeing how my past seniors have styled themselves.

  • I love black jumpsuits

  • I love a nice dark jean with a sweater or turtle neck

  • I love casual outfits to be a simple blouse and denim

  • Flowy dresses are also super fun if that’s your thing!

2) think modest.
you don’t want to upset your grandmother, ok? jk but not. this sort of goes hand in hand with timeless but, its also about being photographed. when your skirt is too short it’s incredibly hard for me to pose you other than having you stand - and that’s no fun! do a little sit test, a hand-in-the-air reach test. and if you’re flashing anyone its maybe best not to use it in your images!

3) accessories, hair, and make up.
accessories, just be minimalistic (in my opinion) a sweet little necklace is cute. a small ring or simple bracelet is nice - but also don’t be like 2013 Laura.

I realize I am not like other photogs. most of them will suggest professional hair and make-up and I am going to say - I disagree. BE YO-SELF.
Don’t over do the make-up to were you don’t look like YOU any more. If you do want to go this route, just be as natural and true to self as possible otherwise you will hate your images regardless of how beautiful you look or how great they turn out. and I say this from experience because I have worked with so many of you.

  • I love a soft loose curl, I think wearing your hair down looks the most natural and timeless

  • wear your make up however you normally would. I have seniors who love a full face and they look gorgeous and it reflects who they are! I have had seniors wear zero make up and look gorgeous and it reflects who they are! just be yourself.
